Engaging Places - a new partnership between CABE and English Heritage, Engaging Places is an online resource to promote teaching and learning through buildings and places. The site also includes reviews, case studes, an A-Z glossary, and ideas for themes and activities.
Travel Footprint - a new site that enables people to calculate and compare the life-cycle environmental impacts of different methods of travelling in the UK. The tool also offers a detailed searchable comparison of the emissions of new and used vehicles according to manufacturer, model, fuel or engine type.
GreenSpace - Works as a charity to improve parks and green spaces by raising awareness, involving communities and creating skilled professionals. The organisation promotes parks as a much needed space for people to take part in organised or informal sports and provide recreational opportunities for those unable or unwilling to join a gym or leisure centre. According to their studies a third of men and women in the England regularly walk in parks.
Natural England Exists to conserve and enhance the natural environment, for its intrinsic value as well as the wellbeing and enjoyment of people. The organisation is working to increase the public’s access to the countryside and coast. Natural England coordiante the designation and funding of National Trails – the flagship walking routes in England. Natural England is a quango funded by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Landscape Design Trust promotes quality of landscape through education and campaigning. It’s aim is to influence and educate those who plan, design, build, maintain, manage and use the outdoor environment.
Open Spaces Society works to protect common land and public rights of way. If you know of a blocked public path or encroachment on common land, or you want to register a 'new' green, then join the Open Spaces Society for help.
CABE
CABE stands for ‘Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment’. Its mission is to improve people’s quality of life through good design. CABE works with Government, practitioners and their clients to make a difference to buildings and public space.
