Despite some rumours to the contrary the project is very much alive and active. If you go to www.walk4life.info you will see the holding page, and a link to the walk event calendar.
The Walk4Life Miles project is now well under way – the new website will be up and ‘live’ on 13th September, in time for the big ITV Walk4Life day campaign on 26th September.
The project aims to make it easy for everyone, but especially people who are not currently active, to get more active by walking more. The new website, www.walk4life.info will provide a place where everyone can find a walk near to where they live. Some of these walks will be short walks, others will be Walk4Life Miles, which will be waymarked on the ground – we’ll have 2,012 of them by 2012! The site already has over 2,000, and we expect many thousands more to be added by supports and the public.
People will be encouraged to use the site to add new walks, record their activity, and even to take a walking fitness test. They can challenge themselves, or others, or form groups and walk together.
We’ve produced lots more information, whether you are looking for advice on waymarking, or what kind or routes the project covers, or more technical information on digitising routes.
