    Evaluation

One of the reasons why walking has not always had the visibility it needs to get funding has been the lack of structured and consistent evaluation of walking projects.  Natural England have recently launched a new evaluation methodology and online database for health walks which will provide one of the largest samples of walkers' data ever collected.  Who else is doing structured evaluation of their programmes? Should we all try to collect similar data?  Walk England would like to start to provide a repository for evaluation methodologies so please let us have your evaluation reports and thoughts on this topic.

Walk London has established Key Performance Indicators for the Strategic Walk Network in London. The 2nd year report is now available and makes for very interesting reading. We measure numbers of people along the routes with a network of ped counters; downloads from the website; an annual survey etc.
