Re: Walk England London Region Network Event

Afternoon to all those who are attending the launch of the Walk England Network for the London region on Monday 10th November 2008.

Following a visit to the venue last week, I was inspired by the sunny day to take some photos on my phone of my walking experience... to hopefully inspire you to walk there too.

I know it can be difficult finding new places, so hopefully these photos are useful and help you spot our great venue.  And of course St James's Park is just across the street, so a perfect spot to stretch your legs at lunchtime.

There are links to the venue website and Journey Planner on your invite (which can also be downloaded if you read the post above this) or visit www.onegreatgeorgestreet.com and www.tfl.gov.uk (the Journey Planner will give you easy to follow walking maps).

View from Parliment Square, down One Great George Street:
note the impressive Jubilee Walkway marker!

Street level: Venue on the left

    Front door: great light!

St James's Park:  Literally across the road, so no excuses

    See you on the 10th!

    Ruth

Re: Walk England London Region Network Event

LUNCHTIME WALKS:  We have planned a variety of walks for you in the lunchtime break.  We hope you get a chance to enjoy one of them!

    1) Self led walk: online mapping
If you would like to explore St James's Park and add another layer to your walking experience, visit http://www.mapme.com/map/jubilee via your phone and view the photos, video links and comments while you walk!  Of course you may like to view this while sitting on a bench halfway round, to inspire you to visit new places in the park.

    2) Self led walk: paper map
Royal Parks have kindly supplied a copy of the map for St James's Park.  This is an excellent example of mapping that is available to the general public.

    3)  Led walk: allotment Visit
Royal Parks are involved in some innovative projects, such as an allotment in St James's Park, so for those of who who would like to network while you walk, they have kindly agreed to host a short visit during your lunchtime break.

Leave venue: 12.30pm, arrive at allotment at 12.45pm, 10-15 min tour, return at 13.15pm
    Maximum participants:  25

    4) Led walk: Health Walk
The 'Walking the Way to Health Initiative' are leading a short Health Walk, so if you want to stretch your legs to feel refreshed for the afternoon workshops, why not join in?

    Leave venue: 12.30pm, return 1.00pm
    Maximum participants: 25
